This investigation was carried out in a section of the Tunjuelo river basin, in the town of Usme, Bogotá-Colombia, from May 2016 to January 2017. The objective was to determine the composition and diversity of the community of macroinvertebrates that inhabit this ecosystem, their family and types. The water samplings for this investigation were taken in four seasons, considering the high, medium and low rainfall periods. A surber net was used to capture the individuals and the physicochemical variables (temperature, pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, total alkalinity, carbonaceous acidity, total and calcic hardness, and conductivity) were measured in situ with reagents and instruments from the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University. Water samples were taken for analisys to the Prodycon S.A. laboratory (total organic carbon, chlorides, BOD5, COD, phosphates, nitrates, nitrites, and total solids). The Simpson dominance indices, Shannon-Wiener diversity and Pielou equity were calculated in each of the sampling stations. A total of 5508 individuals belonging to 13 families of 11 orders and 7 classes of 4 Phylum were found. The families with the largest populations were: Pharyngobdellae, Hyalellidae and Chironomidae. The anthropic actions, the rainy seasons and the changes in the physicochemical parameters of the seasons affect the community of macroinvertebrates that inhabit the middle basin of the Tunjuelo river.
