dc.description.abstract	The aim of this book is twofold: first, to introduce students and other interested readers to the study of contemporary popular culture; and second, to suggest a map of the development of British cultural studies through a discussion of a range of theories and methods for the study of popular culture. I have not attempted an elaborate mapping of the field. Rather, my aim has been to bring together under discussion a range of approaches which have made a significant contribution to the development of the cultural studies approach to the study of contemporary popular culture. It is hoped the book will provide a useful introduction – and range of usable theories and methods – for students new to the field, and a critical overview for those more familiar with the procedures and politics of cultural studies
dc.description.abstractenglish	El objetivo de este libro es doble: primero, introducir a estudiantes y otros lectores interesados en el estudio de la cultura popular contemporánea; y segundo, proponer un panorama del desarrollo de los estudios culturales británicos mediante el análisis de diversas teorías y métodos para su estudio. No he intentado elaborar un mapa exhaustivo del campo. Mi objetivo ha sido, más bien, reunir y analizar diversos enfoques que han contribuido significativamente al desarrollo del enfoque de los estudios culturales aplicado a la cultura popular contemporánea. Se espera que este libro sirva como una introducción útil —y ofrezca una variedad de teorías y métodos prácticos— para quienes se inician en este campo, y como una visión crítica para quienes ya conocen los procedimientos y la política de los estudios culturales.
