Análisis poblacional de la especie invasora Mytella Strigata (Bivalva : Mytilida) a través de herramientas moleculares

dc.description.abstractMytella strigata es una especie de bivalvo nativa en el Pacífico suroriental y el Atlántico oriental, e invasora en Estados Unidos y varios países del sudeste asiático por su capacidad de viajar largas distancias en embarcaciones a través del biofouling y aguas de lastre. Su capacidad de resistir condiciones ambientales extremas la hace una especie exitosa en lugares donde es introducida, haciendo de gran importancia entender los procesos evolutivos que se están llevando a cabo durante su invasión a nuevas localidades. han llevado a cabo para analizar la invasión de esta especie han contado con pocas localidades y un número limitado de secuencias y de análisis genéticos. Por esto, el presente estudio buscó llevar a cabo un análisis genético robusto, utilizando todas las secuencias del gen citocromo oxidasa subunidad I disponibles (381 secuencias) en el repositorio de GenBank, provenientes de 13 localidades a nivel mundial. Los análisis filogenéticos y de diversidad genética indicaron la presencia de 3 haplogrupos, diferenciados por la presencia de doble herencia uniparental y por las poblaciones provenientes del Atlántico (Trinidad y Tobago, Brasil y Uruguay) y del resto del mundo. Las poblaciones de Brasil y Trinidad y Tobago mostraron valores altos de diversidad haplotípica y nucleotídica debido a la mezcla de 2 haplogrupos en sus poblaciones, mientras que las poblaciones de Uruguay y Venezuela mostraron valores bajos. Los índices de fijación mostraron que la población de Uruguay es aquella con mayor diferenciación, además, el AMOVA encontró diferencias significativas entre el haplogrupo presente en Trinidad y Tobago, Brasil y Uruguay, y el haplogrupo presente en el resto del mundo. Finalmente, los análisis demográficos mostraron la ocurrencia de una expansión poblacional clara en las poblaciones de Uruguay y Venezuela, soportado por índices de neutralidad y Mismatch Distribution, lo que puede estar relacionado a la presencia de un depredador invasor reciente en Uruguay, y a un posible efecto fundador en Venezuela. El análisis Bayesian Skyline Plot parece indicar una alta migración en las poblaciones, la cual no permite detectar cambios de tamaño poblacional a nivel local, mientras que a nivel metapoblacional muestra un crecimiento hace aproximadamente 700 mil años. La expansión poblacional en Venezuela, junto con la distribución de los haplogrupos en Suramérica parece indicar que la presencia de la especie en el Caribe es reciente y corresponde a una introducción desde el Pacífico, idea que es apoyada por la baja distancia genética entre sus poblaciones, y el hecho de que comparten el mismo haplogrupo. La aparente neutralidad del tamaño poblacional de las poblaciones invasoras parece estar relacionada a una alta tasa migratoria de los individuos entre sitios generada por el movimiento de barcos, que evitan los efectos del cuello de botella y un posterior efecto fundador.spa
