Drawing as a language: a reflection in time
This project studies the relationship existing between the act of drawing in the light of history on a par with the evolution of artistic works. For this purpose it is necessary to put in context the action of the artist, in communion with the processes making possible the result of drawing, as elements of a language that circulates through time. The research is supported by case studies of artistic works which will be seen circulating in cyclic and concentric ways since prehistoric times until now and are placed in a dialog with either philosophers or even the artists themselves. The third and last chapters present an investigation on the work of the artist Pablo Solano, guided by five visual categories proposed to think about his drawings. Up to this point, the investigation may suggest that all the reflections brought by the language of drawing are the same problems that are questioned in art. Thus, drawing as a language acquires in this case its due importance; and the purpose is to find: Which has been its position in history? What sort of thing has it been considered so far? When did it start to be considered a work of art? And why is it imperative to recover it?
