The sugarcane production is 220 thousand hectares planted by 350,000 families that create approximately 287,000 direct jobs. Sugarcane is grown in 511 municipalities in 28 departments. The departments with the highest production are Boyacá, Cundinamarca, Cauca, Antioquia, Santander, Nariño, Valle del Cauca, Tolima, Caldas, Norte de Santander, Risaralda, Huila with 83% of the planted area. In Cundinamarca, 40,809 hectares were planted with a production of 169,345 tons for the year 2020. The objective of this article is to evaluate the water ecosystem service in sugarcane crops in three municipalities of Cundinamarca. A sample was taken by convenience of 18 farms of panela production, with two managements on the cutting system for panela production. For the characterization and status of water ecosystem services, the secondary information of POT, POMCAS of three municipalities will be taken as reference. For the socioeconomic and environmental variables, surveys will be conducted to determine the family nucleus, age, marital status, educational level, productive activities, sugar mill, type of sugar mill, sources of energy for the household and panela production, hectares under sugarcane, access to public services, characterization of activities related to sugarcane production and obtaining panela, technology used in the sugar mill, approximate production data, nearest water source and environmental practices. The results show that changes in precipitation and runoff are constant and continuous over time; these changes will significantly affect the availability of water resources, which will directly influence the cultivation of sugarcane. The perception of the producers of the water ecosystem service is of abundance, although they are aware of the long-term problems in the availability and quality of water, they are not willing to pay more for the water they use in the production of sugarcane and panelaspa
