Understanding the vocal adaptive processes of birds in the face of current pressures is of great importance, which is why in this study the adaptation strategies of singing to noisy environments were compared between Neotropical oscine species such as the common cockroach (Troglodytes aedon) and the common honeydew (Coereba flaveola) and suboscine species such as the common marmoset (Todirostrum cinereum) and the bichofué (Pitangus sulphuratus). Sound pressure levels (Leq) were measured and the song of the different species was recorded at 20 points in the city of Ibagué (10 urban areas, 10 rural areas). A total of 7187 songs were analyzed, distributed; in 1417 T. cinereum, 1448 for P. sulphuratus, 1862 for T. aedon and 2460 for C. flaveola, during eight (8) months of sampling. The analyzes showed that there are significant differences in the structure of the songs, both of the birds belonging to the suboscines group and that of the oscines present in the urban area with respect to those of the rural area, revealing in both groups as a vocal adaptation strategy to noise the increase in the maximum frequency of the song, which could be favored not only by singing learning processes but also by the time of exposure of the individual to noise or the structure of the habitat.
