The benefits attributed to prebiotics in growth and in the adjustment effect of the immune system, are factors of great importance that give interest to these growth promoters and thus classify them as new mechanisms for aquaculture. During 30 days, in the municipality of Cogua (Cundinamarca) growth samples (length and weight), mortality and physicochemical factors were carried out in 30,000 individuals in early juvenile rainbow trout. 2 treatments were applied, initially with the prebiotic Citromarine® (T1: 5 g / kg of commercial concentrate, with 25 ml of vegetable oil as vehicle) and the control treatment (T2: commercial concentrate (50% trout), ground and sifted) given 12 times a day. Each treatment was tripled, for a total of 6 groups made up of 5,000 fingerlings each; the prebiotic mixture was made with commercial concentrate formulated for the initiation stage. The results of growth in length (T1: 2.657 ± 0.502 cm; T2: 2.642 ± 0.518 cm) indicate equivalent behaviors between the two treatments, while in weight (T1: 0.218 ± 0.056 g; T2: 0.223 ± 0.061 g) the T2 showed greater effectiveness. On the other hand, the mortality percentage was 9.22% in T1 and 9.35% in T2; These records are adjusted to the growth expected for the conditions of the farm and are not associated with any external cause. Furthermore, the temperature averaged 10.5 ° C and the pH was neutral (6.8 to 7.1); while dissolved oxygen registered a range of 5.92 to 6.0 mg l-1. These values are within the limits established for the culture of Oncorhynchus mykiss. Finally, the growth promoter did not improve the development and survival of rainbow trout fingerlings, since the duration of the experiment does not allow us to suppose results or infer about the effects of the prebiotic since they are only preliminary data.
