Migratory movements throughout history have been a constant in the development
and evolution of peoples and have been caused by many motivations and interests. All
continents of the world have experienced at different moments the migration phenomenon, either as receptors/hosts or issuers of people. This work raises questions on the development of the concept of Social Capital and its direct application to the outflow of
the countries in the Horn of Africa and, in particular, to the case of Somalia within the
capital district of Bogotá.
To address the question and approach certain and indicative responses, this paper
identifies concepts and definitions within a systemic analysis of migration and development factors in an investigation of a particular case of Bogota, seeking validation or negation of social capital that arose from the presence of communities of Horn African Countries (hac) and Somalia in particular in the Colombian capital. The structure of the paper
comprises four parts. The first one deals with concepts, definitions and general aspects of
migration. The second part provides a brief description of the profile of the African continent and, in particular, the Horn of Africa (Somalia). The third part discusses in depth
the concept of Social Capita and, finally, the fourth part summarizes the conclusions of
the investigation.
